MAFRAQ — Seven mayors from the Northern Badia region on Sunday threatened to submit a group resignation in protest against the “government’s reluctance” to respond to a set of demands they submitted two months ago.
Following a meeting on Saturday, the seven mayors of Sabha, Dafyaneh, Um Jmal, Nayfeh, Um Al Qutin, Bani Hashem, Safawi and Deir Al Kahef said the Syrian refugee influx has deeply affected their regions.
They also said that international relief agencies have not provided any assistance to their municipalities, although they host Syrian families.
They added that people of Northern Badia will organise a demonstration in protest against the lack of assistance.
