AMMAN — In cooperation with a number of organisations on both the national and international level, governmental efforts are being directed towards the provision of better care and husbandry for work animals in Petra.
The management and organisation of animals working in the ancient city of Petra is being discussed in a meeting organised by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) on Thursday in Petra, a PDTRA statement has said. The meeting is set to follow a participatory approach that includes discussions on the current situation of working animals, welfare and health aspects, challenges and potential solutions to ensure an animal-friendly archaeological park.
Chief Commissioner of PDTRA Suleiman Al Farajat in the statement stressed the importance of this meeting, in hopes that the experienced organisations participating cooperate and collaborate to achieve positive change that reflects equally on both working animals and the local communities.
