Study to assess rehabilitating phosphate hills area

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday chaired a meeting at the Prime Ministry to discuss the progress of a study on a project to rehabilitate the phosphate hills area in Ruseifa, which is spread over 4,000 dunums, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Environment Minister Taher Shakhshir, Municipal Affairs Minister Walid Masri, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company Chairman Amer Majali and other members of the company’s board of directors attended the meeting.
The premier called for comprehensive studies on protecting public health. Shakhshir said any scientific studies from the company are welcome but should follow the standards adopted by the ministry, ensuring the protection of the environment.
Shakhshir and Majali signed the minutes of the meeting, during which an agreement was reached on the main pillars of the planned study.
