AMMAN — A teacher in the Jafar Tayyar School in Jofeh area, eastern Amman, was reportedly beaten on Wednesday by the relatives of a student, according to a Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The teacher filed a complaint with the police after a student’s uncle attacked him verbally and physically with sticks and rocks, the JTA said, noting that the incident was referred to the concerned judiciary authorities. The teacher obtained a medical report that states he sustained injuries to his head, back and feet.
Ibrahim Jbour, JTA Amman branch vice president, said the syndicate is following up on the case with the concerned authorities. In 2015, some 117 cases of attacks on teachers were recorded, according to JTA figures.
