Three arrested over purse snatching spree

AMMAN — A team of the Central Region Criminal Investigation Department has arrested three suspects in connection with “snatching women’s purses in Zarqa”, the Public Security Department (PSD) said on Wednesday.

In their initial questioning, the suspects confessed to snatching 20 purses and sharing the stolen items, before disposing of the empty purses, according to a PSD statement.

Security personnel also seized a vehicle the suspects used to commit the crimes, the PSD said, adding that CID agents retrieved six phones. The investigation is still ongoing.
