AMMAN — Weekly flights from Bulgaria to Aqaba have begun, with a chartered flight carrying 117 tourists expected to arrive at King Hussein International Airport on Saturday.

The flight is the first of a number of scheduled flights to the Kingdom, as weekly flights continue for the rest of the year.

Tourism Minister Nayef Fayed said that the introduction of the flights to Aqaba and the arrival of Bulgarian tourists support archaeological sites and the tourist movement in the Kingdom.

He stressed Jordan’s keenness and preparedness for the return of tourist groups to the Kingdom.

Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat said that the JTB follows a policy of attracting charter flights to King Hussein International Airport, and is expecting an increase in the number of flights from Bulgaria during the coming period.

General Manager of Travco Jordan, the company receiving the tourists, Paolo Nocerino, said that the arrival of tourists is the result of joint efforts undertaken by the company and JTB, pointing out that the company is promoting Jordan in European markets as a tourist destination.
