Al Hussein youth camp kicks off in Aqaba with a myriad of activities

AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Crown Prince Hussein, the Regent, Culture and Youth Minister Mohammad Abu Rumman on Friday attended the launch of activities by Al Hussein Camps for Work and Construction 2019 in Aqaba.
During the ceremony coincided with the Crown Prince’s birthday and the 20th Accession to the Throne Day, Abu Rumman said that a total of 20,000 participants between the ages of 12 and 24 will take part in this year’s camps, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Young people are a top priority for all state institutions, he added, highlighting that this year’s camps aim at encouraging youth’s innovation as well as bolstering the values of citizenship and promote the national Jordanian identity.
The camps seek to provide an opportunity for self-expression, make the most of youth talents and keep them abreast of the latest developments, Petra added.
The events held through the overnight camps include adventure camps, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, robotics among others while day camps offer programmes on security, crime scene, social cohesion, Taekwondo as well as providing training to qualify the participants to join the labour market.
Al Hussein Camps, established in 1961 under the initiative of His Majesty the late King Hussein, are sponsored by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, the Public Security Department, the Civil Defence Department, the Crown Prince Foundation, the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, the Jordan River Foundation, all ministries and national and international organisations including Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Foundation.
