Jordanian delegation talks trade ties during Germany visit

AMMAN — A Jordanian delegation, headed by Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply’s Secretary-General  Dana Al Zu’bi, on Saturday visited Germany to discuss the promotion of national exports, especially to European markets and particularly Germany, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The delegation’s visit comes within the framework of the institutional partnership with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, in cooperation with the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Berlin.

During a meeting with the German ministry, the German side was chaired by the Ministry’s Representative Gerlind Heckmann. 

During the meeting, Zu’bi delivered a presentation focusing on Jordan’s economy and foreign trade policy, reviewing the challenges it is going through and the government’s plans to stimulate growth, including enhancing the competitiveness of exports.

Zu’bi also reviewed bolstering cooperation with Germany, expressing thanks to Germany for its continuous support to the Jordanian economy.

Heckmann said that the institutional partnership between the two ministries is based on the exchange of institutional expertise to promote national exports of small- and medium-sized companies, ensuring the inclusion of the private sector. 

During the meeting, the two sides signed a declaration of intent to establish an institutional partnership, encouraging exports of small- and medium-sized enterprises, in the presence of Jordanian Ambassador in Berlin Yousef Bataineh, CEO of the Amman Chamber of Industry Nael Husami, Secretary General of the Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of officials representing both sides.

Briefed on leading German experience in trade and investment programmes, the Jordanian delegation also discussed a number of issues related to preparations for the next meeting, featuring the two ministries, which will be held in Amman during the next quarter of 2022.
