AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Saturday checked on venues at Al Hussein Youth City, and had a firsthand look at preparations for the Amman International Stadium to host the opening ceremony of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Kingdom will host the tournament in September and October. Minister of Youth Rami Wreikat briefed Mulki, in the presence of Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, on the ministry’s preparations to host the international event, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Wreikat said the ministry rehabilitated stadiums and other sports facilities in Amman, Irbid and Zarqa to conform to FIFA’s requirements. Meanwhile, Mulki agreed on a proposal by Wreikat to move the ministry’s headquarters, after the tournament, to a new building opposite to the Amman International Stadium’s main gate, Petra added.
