AMMAN — HRH Princess Sarvath Al Hassan, chairwoman of the Amman Baccalaureate School’s board of trustees, recently inaugurated the ABS’ Randa Kawar Building, exclusively equipped for its grade 11 and 12 students, according to a statement released Sunday.
The environmentally friendly IB college building, opened late last week, is named in honour of one of the founding members of the school who supported the ABS community for nearly 30 years, according to the statement.
HRH Princess Sumaya, Siva Kumari, director general of the International Baccalaureate, Chris Solly, director of the World Academy of Sport, and members of the board of trustees, ABS alumni, staff, parents and students also attended the opening ceremony.
The Randa Kawar IB College Building provides specialised learning areas for languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities and arts.
It also includes dedicated media and university counselling centres as well as communal social and dining areas for post-16 students, the statement said.
ABS is “one of only 24 schools worldwide” fully authorised to offer all four IB programmes.
Established by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hassan and Princess Sarvath in 1981, ABS provides “a bilingual, multi cultural education” in line with international standards and rooted in the Arabic language and heritage.
