PSD chief, German ambassador discuss police cooperation

AMMAN — Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah and German Ambassador to Jordan Bernhard Kampmann on Sunday discussed ways to enhance police cooperation between both countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the PSD received an assortment of modern equipment and vehicles provided by the German government, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Maaytah highlighted Jordan's role in combating crime and promoting local and international security and peace, noting that the directorate is continuing to strengthen its relations with the German government, which is based on improving performance and building technical and training capabilities.
He expressed appreciation of Germany's support for efforts towards combating crime and enhancing international security and peace.
The German envoy emphasised the importance of Jordan's role in maintaining regional security and stability, emphasising his country's keenness to further advance cooperation and coordination with the PSD, notably to support the directorate's security and humanitarian efforts through building technical capabilities and providing modern equipment.
The grant, which is part of the cooperation between Jordanian and German police forces under the German government's "Empowerment and Enhancement Initiative" , included a number of vehicles equipped to support police, civil defence and emergency medical services.
