Suspect in fatal Tawjihi celebratory gunfire incident arrested — PSD

AMMAN — Police have arrested the suspected shooter involved in an incident of celebratory gunfire that culminated in the death of Sahel Khattab after the announcement of the results of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi), the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Monday.

The spokesperson said that relevant investigation team had succeeded in identifying the suspect and arresting him, as well as seizing the weapon used in the shooting, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The PSD official noted that Khattab was taken to hospital on Thursday after being hit by a stray bullet while on the street, and was soon pronounced dead. The suspect confessed to participating in festive firing after his brother passed Tawjihi, the spokesperson said, noting that the suspect will be sent to the relevant authorities to proceed with legal action.
