AMMAN — Teams head into Week 13 of the Jordan Professional Football League with Shabab Urdun topping the table following an interesting start to Leg 2 of the season.

Shabab Urdun took over top spot after they beat That Ras 1-0 as leaders Jazira stumbled going down 2-1 to Ahli who moved up to 8th in the standings. This week, Shabab Urdun play Ramtha, who are 11th after losing 1-0 to Sarih, who moved up to 9th, while Jazira play Baqaa who held Hussein 1-1.

Salt are third after they beat Wihdat 2-0 ahead of their match against Sarih, while Faisali remained fourth after they held Aqaba 2-2 ahead of their match against That Ras.

Wihdat next play Hussein, who are now 6th, while Aqaba play Ahli, who seem determined to move up and play for an advanced position.

During the first leg, Jazira had maintained their lead like the past two seasons, ahead of usual champs Wihdat and Faisali.

The 2018/19 football season kicked off with league champs Wihdat beating Jordan Cup champs Jazira in the 36th Jordan Super Cup. League titleholders Wihdat lost to Kuwait Club 3-2 in the 2018/19 AFC Champions League (ACL). Jordanian teams have never before made it past the ACL preliminary round. In the 2017/18 edition, Faisali were eliminated, while Wihdat were knocked out in 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2015, and Shabab Urdun were eliminated in 2014.

Last season, Faisali  won the Jordan Super Cup and Wihdat won the Jordan Football Association Shield. Jazira won the Jordan Cup.
