AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has met a number of businesspeople and representatives of several economic entities, during his visit to San Francisco, according to a Royal Court statement released Tuesday.

The meeting included presentations on bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy and investment. The King was also briefed on US experience in the sectors of energy, education, medicine, IT and other sectors.

The business leaders voiced their interest in enhancing cooperation with the Kingdom, commending its investment environment and efforts to achieve economic development.

Moreover, they said meeting His Majesty allowed them a chance to observe closely the Jordanian experience in various sectors and fields, and possibilities to sign partnership investment contracts with Jordanian companies.

On Wednesday, His Majesty will begin an official visit to Ottawa, Canada, during which he will meet Governor General of Canada David Johnston, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and a number of officials to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

The visit takes place at a time when both countries are witnessing developments in the economy and commerce, especially since signing a free trade agreement that came into force in 2012.

The two countries have also signed a number of agreements in the fields of investment, employment and the environment, the statement said.

In remarks to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Jordan’s Ambassador to Canada Bashir Zu’bi said the visit is His Majesty’s fourth to Canada, noting that Jordan is the only Arab country that has a free trade agreement with the North American country.
