AMMAN — Acting speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Nassar Qaisi on Monday reiterated Jordan’s pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah on the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Qaisi met with Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Fahri Hamzahh and his accompanying delegation to discuss the cause and means of garnering support for it.
The chairperson of the Jordanian-Indonesian Parliamentary Friendship Association, head of the Lower House’s Palestine Committee, Yahia Saud, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Andy Rachmianto also attended the meeting.
According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Qaisi praised the “deep friendship” between Jordan and Indonesia and expressed hope to further it at all levels.
Talks also went over Indonesia’s role in supporting Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, Petra reported.
The meeting also covered the latest regional developments, highlighting that the Kingdom, on behalf of the entire world, has shouldered the repercussions of a number of regional crises, the most recent of which was hosting the Syrian refugees, a crisis that has resulted in various economic and social ramifications.
Jordan, with its wise leadership, has managed to play a pivotal role in maintaining regional stability and security and safeguarding its borders, Qaisi added.
Hamzah voiced appreciation for Jordan’s vital role played in the region, especially towards the Palestinian cause.
He reaffirmed that his country adopts Jordan’s stances and supports all initiatives that serve the Palestinian and Jerusalemite cause.
Indonesia seizes every opportunity to further strengthen Jordanian-Indonesian relations, he said, noting that bilateral visits serve convergence of views on issues of mutual interest.
Jerusalem is placed in a dangerous situation, Saud said, urging supporting the Hashemite Custodianship and unmasking Israeli violations in the international platforms.
